BLOOMINGTON, Ind.–Video taken from a protest in Bloomington Monday night shows a red car driving through protesters.

Rodney Root took the video. He said he and his wife were leaving the protest when they saw a car trying to get through the intersection of 4th and Walnut.

Demonstrators say the event was almost over last night when a car drove through and hit two people. Witnesses say one person was injured, but no one was killed.

Police have not said anything about the driver.

Protesters came out to support Vauhxx Booker, a member of the Monroe County Human Rights Commission, who says he was ambushed by five people at Lake Monroe on July 4. One person yelled “get a noose”, while someone else yelled “white power”, said Booker.

Multiple videos of a fight and a few arguments went viral in a Facebook post that Booker made July 4.

In a statement, Bloomington Mayor John Hamilton and City Clerk Nicole Bolden said the actions of the people in the video deserve “collective condemnation.”

Some of the protesters who were there Monday told WISH-TV, enough is enough.

“We get told why are you protesting in Bloomington, this kind of stuff doesn’t happen in Bloomington. Well you know what? This one is at home,” said Patrick Ford.

Another protester, Aleah Craft, agreed.

“Obviously everything that’s happening across the country is disgusting and terrible but when it happens close to home, it’s so disheartening,” said Craft.

The Department of Natural Resources is investigating the incident on Lake Monroe.
