The car crashed near the intersection of Meridian Street and Troy Avenue

INDIANAPOLIS -- One person was killed Friday afternoon after a police chase on Indy's south side ended in a crash.

Indy Metro Police say the chase started at around 2:15 p.m. at Walker and State Avenues. It ended a short time later when the suspect's car crashed into Concordia Cemetery near the intersection of Meridian St. and Troy Ave.

A female passenger inside the car was killed; the driver was injured.

IMPD says the car was stolen, but has not said why the chase started or what happened to cause the crash.

As of 3:30 p.m., both sides of Meridian St. are closed between Yoke Street and E. Southern Ave. for a police investigation, reports IndyStar.
