Amazon Brings New Grocery Delivery Service To Indianapolis

The service comes extra with your Amazon Prime membership.

INDIANAPOLIS -- You can now get your groceries delivered in Indianapolis as part of your Amazon Prime membership. But, you'll have to pay extra. Amazon announced the new delivery service this morning, and joins other delivery or pick-up services like those offered by Meijer and Kroger, and the Amazon alliance with Whole Foods, which started delivery last year.

AmazonFresh will be an extra $14.99 for free, two-hour delivery on items like produce, meat, seafood and everyday essentials.

Your order must be for $35 or more, for delivery to be free.

Amazon said you will be able to order using Alexa. An example would be, "Alexa, order milk from AmazonFresh". Alexa will add a choice for milk to their cart based on past purchases or a top result popular with customers. Alexa is always learning and as you use AmazonFresh, she will remember your favorites and make grocery shopping fast and simple, said a news release from Amazon.

“We’re thrilled to introduce AmazonFresh to Prime members in Indianapolis,” said Stephenie Landry, Vice President of AmazonFresh and Prime Now.

“Prime members tell us they want their stuff even faster. We're happy to deliver on that ask and can’t wait for customers in Indianapolis to take advantage of one- and two-hour delivery from AmazonFresh.”

If you don't have Prime, new customers can start a 30-day free trial of AmazonFresh and receive $10 off their first order of $35 or more by using promotional code Grocery10 at checkout.
