Avon Crash Kills One Person On U.S. 36

Police say the accident happened at 4 am this morning at U.S. 36 and Avon Village Parkway.

AVON, Ind.--A crash killed one person this morning on U.S. 36 near a Walmart in Avon. 

An Avon Fire spokesman said the crash happened at about 4 am at U.S. 36 and Avon Village Parkway. It involved a dump truck and a pickup truck.  

Police say a truck with Ray’s Trash Service was going east on US 36 and tried to turn north on Avon Village Parkway when it collided with a pickup truck going west on US 36. The pickup truck also hit a utility pole. 

Emergency responders had to cut off the roof of the pickup truck to get the driver out. That driver was pronounced dead at the scene. 

The driver of the dump truck with Ray's Trash Service was not hurt.
