Bikers Raise Money for Ella Whistler, the Injured Noblesville Student

Riders from the American Legion, the Christian Motorcycle Association, and elsewhere turned out to help Whistler's family pay for the growing pile of medical bills.

CICERO, Ind. -- Ella Whistler, the student seriously injured in the Noblesville West Middle School shooting in May, got a financial boost on Sunday from motorcycle riders.

Riders from the American Legion, the Christian Motorcycle Association, and elsewhere turned out to help Whistler's family pay for the growing pile of medical bills.

More than 380 motorcyclists participated in the 20-mile ride, which started at the American Legion Hall in Cicero.

"When we drove by the house, she was all smiles. It's good to see a smile on her face. Anything to put a smile on a child's face is a good thing," said Lisa Cross with the Christian Motorcycle Association.

Whistler was also given a vest and made an honorary member of the club.

“She thanked us. Her family thanked us. Her neighbors thanked us,” said Dave Baughman, of the Cicero American Legion Riders. “She’s happy.”

Organizers said the ride raised more than $10,000.
