Bloomington Man Arrested, Accused of Stabbing Maintenance Worker

Police say he lunged at one of the workers with a knife and stabbed him.

BLOOMINGTON, Ind.--A man from Bloomington was arrested Monday afternoon because police say he stabbed a maintenance worker. 

It happened around 1 at a property on West Kirkwood Avenue. 

Maintenance workers told investigators they got a report about someone being in one of the vacant apartments and found Michael Thompson, 35, in that apartment. 

They say he lunged at one of the workers with a knife and stabbed him. He ran away, but was arrested a short time later near the intersection of Seventh and Jackson streets. 

Police say the worker had a stab wound on the left side of his torso and an injury to his left eye. He is in stable condition. 

Thompson is preliminary charged with attempted murder, robbery, intimidation with a deadly weapon, and criminal trespass.
