Breaking Down the Ballot: U.S. House 4th District
INDIANAPOLIS -- With current seat-holder Todd Rokita firmly entrenched in the Republican Senate primary, the race is on for candidates vying to replace him in Indiana's 4th Congressional District.
Here's a look at the candidates people in the 4th district will have on their ballots on May 8.
The Candidates: Democrats
Tobi Beck – Former Military Police officer who served in Cuba and Somalia. Lives in Avon.
Roger Day – Making his second bid; finished second in 2014 primary for this seat.
Darin Griesey – Former 6th District Congressional nominee in 2000. Six-year member of the White Co. Farm Bureau Board.
Joe Mackey - Retired Machinist and co-founder of The Claire E. and Patrick G. Mackey Children’s Cancer Foundation. Lafayette native.
- Roland Ellis | Kokomo
- Veronikka Ziol | Woodworker and ordained minister | Newton Co.
The Candidates: Republican
Jim Baird: Former Putnam County Commissioner and current State Representative from Greencastle. Received a Bronze Star and Purple Heart for Army service in Vietnam.
Steve Braun – Former Zionsville State Representative. Served as Workforce Development Commissioner under Governors Pence and Holcomb and resigned to run for Congress.
Diego Morales – Chief Business Development Officer at The Sodrel Holding Companies. Former aide to Gov. Mike Pence and U.S. Army veteran.
Jared Thomas – West Point graduate and Iraq War veteran. Member of the 101st Airbone Division and recipient of the Bronze Star Medal.
