Buttigieg Says America Is "Probably" Heading For A Recession

The South Bend mayor says President Trump as no strategy for dealing with China.

GEORGETOWN, S.C. -- 2020 Democrat presidential hopeful Pete Buttigieg believes the U.S. economy is not working for most people.

"There's a big debate going one right now over whether we are on the cusp of a recession," Buttigieg told CNN's State of the Union. "I think we probably are, but the more important thing is even during expansion, most Americans have not been able to get ahead."

He added that the economy is mostly benefiting wealthy Americans. Buttigieg says it's clear President Trump has no strategy for dealing with the trade war with China in a way that will actually lead to results for American farmers or consumers.

The latest polls from Fox News show Buttigieg still sitting in fifth behind Joe Biden, Elizabeth Warren, Berne Sanders, and Kamala Harris. But, the poll also shows the gap between Buttigieg and Harris widening among likely Democrat voters.
