Calf Rescued From Road Last Week Dies In Barn Fire

The pole barn where the calf, Bella, was temporarily staying burned down on Monday.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. -- A calf rescued from the middle of the road has died.

The calf, Bella, was taken to Fort Wayne Animal Care and Control last week after Fort Wayne Police Capt. PJ Smith put a leash on it and walked it to the shelter.

They found Bella's owner and she returned home.

However, on Monday a fire burned down the pole barn where Bella was temporarily staying, said ABC 21.

Fire officials aren't sure what caused the fire and are investigating.

ABC 21 says, Lana Beregszazi was taking care of Bella, since the calf was rejected by her mother on Beregszazi's brother's farm.
