Child Accused Of Bringing Gun To Northern Indiana Elementary School

Police say the child brought a handgun to MacArthur Elementary School in Cedar Lake Tuesday morning, but no one was threatened or harmed.

CEDAR LAKE, Ind. — A student in northwestern Indiana is accused of bringing a gun to his elementary school.

Police say the child brought a handgun to MacArthur Elementary School in Cedar Lake Tuesday morning.  The student was taken out of school as soon as the gun was found according to the Times of Northwest Indiana.

Crown Point Community Schools released a statement saying "at no time were any threats made toward students, staff or visitors, no one was harmed, and the school remained secure throughout the entire investigation." 

The school district also added that the student would face "appropriate school disciplinary measures."
