Columbus PD: Butane Torch Used by Shoplifter

Jennifer Durban was seen burning price tags off merchandise at a Walmart in Columbus.

COLUMBUS, Ind. -- A unique attempt at shoplifting "burned" a woman from Edinburgh over the weekend.

Jennifer Durban, 34, was arrested Sunday at a Walmart in Columbus after she was seen burning price tags off of merchandise with a butane torch.

After she was handcuffed, Durban tried to kick officers and hit them with her head, according to Columbus police.

Durban was taken to the Bartholomew Co. Jail on charges of theft and resisting law enforcement.

The damaged merchandise, valued at more than $100, was returned to the store.
