INDIANAPOLIS-Indianapolis Democrat Congressman Andre Carson is hosting his sixth annual Youth Opportunities Job Fair Monday.

It runs from noon until 7 pm at the Central Library, 40 East Saint Clair Street in Indianapolis.

“It’s a chance for young people to have opportunities to work for places like the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, the Indianapolis Zoo, Keep Indianapolis Beautiful, etc, to get these experiences before they enter the workforce or go to college,” Carson told WISH TV.

That experience, he says, will pay dividends in the long run.

“A lot of these opportunities are unpaid. Many of them are paid, but the experience you gain and the relationships you build along the way, who knows what could happen?”, Carson said.

There are also tools at the fair to help young people get jobs.

“We have resume writing courses. We have ‘How to Present Yourself in a Job Interview’ (courses). These are the kind of basic tools that are needed when you’re young,” Carson said.

Carson was also asked President Donald Trump’s former campaign chairman Paul Manafort being sentenced to 47 months in prison on eight counts of bank and tax fraud.

“With the role that he played, he got off light. Clearly, his team was signaling to the Trump administration to give him a pardon,” Carson said.

When Carson spoke to people in his district, he said he the issues that matter to them most are jobs, infrastructure, bringing back our troops, and keeping our communities safe.
