DeKalb County Sheriff's Deputy Shot North of Fort Wayne

The officer is recovering. The shooting happened during a traffic stop.

GARRETT, Ind--A sheriff’s deputy is hurt after a shooting in northeastern Indiana. 

Investigators told WPTA TV in Fort Wayne a DeKalb County Sheriff’s Deputy was shot in the hand in the town of Garrett about 20 miles north of Fort Wayne.  

State Police say it happened during a traffic stop that was started by a Garrett Police officer and the deputy showed up as back-up.  

Investigators say the suspect was also shot and taken into custody.  

The deputy will be okay, but officers didn't say how the suspect was doing.
