Indiana Democrat Joe Donnelly says he'll support at least two members of President-elect Trump's national security team.

Donnelly says he's "completely supportive" of General Jim Mattis as Defense Secretary, and will support another retired general, John Kelly, for head of Homeland Security.

He's reserving judgment on other Cabinet nominees. He says Housing and Urban Development nominee  Ben Carson made "a great impression" in a long discussion this week, but says he hasn't made a final decision. He says the former Republican presidential hopeful assured him he's "all in" on helping to find solutions for East Chicago families affected by high levels of lead.

Donnelly previously announced he'll vote against his former congressional colleague Tom Price for Health and Human Services. He calls Price "a good human being," but says the Georgia Republican's support for private competitors to Medicare makes him a "dangerous" choice.
