WASHINGTON — Several varieties of Duncan Hines cake mix are being recalled over possible Salmonella contamination.
Conagra Brands issued a voluntary recall after a sample of Duncan Hines Classic White Cake Mix tested positive for Salmonella, the US Food and Drug Administration said Monday.
The strain of Salmonella found in the cake mix sample matches one linked to five cases of Salmonella illness, according to the FDA.
Several people who are sick told health investigators their symptoms appeared after eating the cake mix, Conagra said.
The recalled cake mixes were packaged in 15.25 oz. boxes and distributed nationwide.

Do not bake with or eat any of the recalled mixes. Instead, contact Duncan Hines or the store where the mix was purchased for a refund.
As part of the ongoing investigation, the FDA is inspecting the Conagra facility where the recalled cake mixes were produced and collecting environmental samples there.
