Escaped Marion Co. Inmate Arrested at Bus Stop

Brittany Howell had been on the run since Tuesday, when she ran away from a Marion County Sheriff's deputy.

INDIANAPOLIS -- An Marion County inmate who ran away from a sheriff's deputy on Tuesday is back in police custody.

Brittany Howell, 29, was arrested just before 1 a.m. Thursday while trying to board a Greyhound Bus headed to Ohio.

She ran away from a sheriff's deputy on Tuesday after learning she would not be placed with a work-release program, according to the Marion County Sheriff's Office.

Howell was initially arrested in May for driving while suspended and operating a vehicle without a license. She is now charged with escape, which is a felony.

The deputy in charge of Howell at the time of her escape, Robert Anderson, has been placed on administrative leave.
