Fire Burns Eight Apartments on West Side, 22 People Out of a Home

Everyone got out okay, says fire department.

INDIANAPOLIS--A fire at an apartment complex near Georgtown and Moeller roads, destroyed at least eight townhouses and put 22 people out of a home Friday night. Three fire departments worked to get the fire out.

While eight units were destroyed by fire, four more were damaged by smoke and water.

Indianapolis Fire Dept. Batallion Chief Rita Reith said all of the smoke detectors were working and everyone got out safe before the Indianapolis Fire Dept., Speedway and Pike Township departments got there Friday, around 9 p.m.

The Waterfront Terrace Apartments are on Kebil Crt., just off 34th St.

Reith did not say what caused the fire.
