Five To Six Inches Of Snow Possible This Weekend

NWS Indianapolis says areas north of I-70 could see between 5 and 6 inches of snow. A wintry mix and rain to the south.

STATEWIDE -- You can expect another round of heavy snow to fall on the state this weekend.

National Weather Service Meteorologist Jason Puma says the snow will start falling late Friday night and continue well into Saturday. Puma said the higher snow amounts will be concentrated to the northern part of the state and will taper off as you head south.

Places like Lafayette, Kokomo, Frankfort, and Delphi could see up to six-inches of snow. Indianapolis, Terre Haute, and Rushville could get up to five-inches. Places south of I-70 will see between one-to-four inches. Areas around Shoals, Washington, and Vincennes will mostly likely just see rain.

Freezing rain is just as likely as snow for locations south of I-70, according to Puma. He said that also increases the likelihood of hazardous road conditions with light ice forming on roadways.

The snow and freezing rain should start letting up Saturday night.
