Franklin's Artcraft Theatre Showing Classic World War I Movie For Veterans Day Weekend
FRANKLIN, Ind. -- To honor the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I, the Historic Artcraft Theatre in downtown Franklin is showing the 1930 classic film All Quiet on the Western Front.
The Historic Artcraft Theatre at 57 N. Main Street, just north of the Johnson County Courthouse, is showing the Academy Award winning movie Friday and Saturday evening starting at 7:30 p.m. Matinees are on Fridays, Saturdays starting at 2 p.m.
Rob Shilts, Executive Director of Franklin Heritage, Inc., says veterans and active military personnel get in for free.
"It will be very educational for folks and just a small token [of thanks] for all those who have served and are serving currently," says Shilts.
The film won the awards for Outstanding Production (Best Picture) and Best Director at the 3rd Academy Awards and is still considered one of the best and most realistic depictions of World War I.
