Grant Co. Sheriff: 2-Year-Old Boy Accidentally Shot by 3-Year-Old Brother

The Grant Co. Sheriff's Dept. said the toddler was shot in the shoulder while he and his older brother were in the living room of their home.

MARION, Ind. —  A 2-year-old Grant County boy has been released from the hospital after police say he was accidentally shot by his 3-year-old brother.

The shooting happened at around 11 a.m. Monday at a home in the 4200 block of Creston Drive, just north of Marion.

The bullet passed through the boy's shoulder and loged in a wall, according to Det. Kevin Beal of the Grant County Sheriff's Office.

The 2-year-old was taken to Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health in Indianapolis and later released. He is now recovering at home.

The sheriff's department is still looking into what happened. Once the police investigation is complete, the information will be sent to the Prosecutor's Office for review.
