Greenwood City Employees Getting Raises in 2019
GREENWOOD, Ind. -- Some people working for the city of Greenwood will see bigger paychecks in 2019.
Firefighters, police officers, and street workers are among more than 250 city employees who will see a 5% pay increase next year, says The Daily Journal newspaper.
The city clerk will get a 3% raise next year. City council members will get a 2% pay bump.
Mayor Mark Myers told The Daily Journal the increase is necessary to keep people from leaving for higher-paying jobs in other cities.
The measure will cost taxpayers an extra $1.85 million in additional tax dollars in 2019.
