INDIANAPOLIS — The second headquarters for Amazon may not end up in Indianapolis, says The Washington Post.

The report from the Post says Amazon may end up in Crystal City, Virginia, which is a suburb of Arlington and not far from Washington, D.C.

Indianapolis is among the 20 cities that Amazon has selected as a potential site for its second headquarters.  It is currently headquartered exclusively in Seattle.

Gerry Dick with Inside Indiana Business says Indianapolis could still benefit if it’s the runner up city.

“That second-place city is going to get all the accolades for being in the competition and doing very well, but not getting the headaches that come along [with it&#93,” says Dick in an interview with 93 WIBC’s Tony Katz.

“If the headquarters does go to Northern Virginia, Amazon is looking at other technology hubs for healthcare [and&#93 for logistics,” Dick says, which could include Indianapolis and central Indiana.

It is estimated that 50,000 new jobs could come with the building of a second headquarters for Amazon, which would bring a giant boost to whichever city it chooses.

Amazon has not commented on the report from The Washington Post, nor has the company given a timetable on when a final decision would be formally announced.

The website SportsBettingExperts.com says Northern Virginia is the favorite to land the Amazon headquarters.  Indianapolis is listed as the 15th most likely city to be chosen by Amazon for its second headquarters, tied with Newark, New Jersey.
