IMPD Deputy Chief Chris Bailey Named Next Police Chief In Asheville, North Carolina

Bailey will be stepping down from his role with IMPD soon and will start his new job July 29th.

INDIANAPOLIS -- IMPD's deputy chief of investigations is leaving for a new job in North Carolina.

Deputy Chief Chris Bailey has been named as the next police chief of Asheville, North Carolina, a city of about 92,000 people.

He will start the new job July 29.

Bailey became IMPD Deputy Chief of Investigations in August 2017.

“I am excited and honored to join the Asheville Police Department team," Bailey said. My wife and I instantly fell in love with Asheville and its people when we visited a few weeks ago. I know I still have a lot to learn and I am eager to get started.”

"Chief Bailey is a trusted and well-respected member of our command staff," said IMPD Chief Bryan Roach. "He understood our department’s vision and was instrumental in any successes we have had."

Roach said he's honored to have had the opportunity to work with Bailey. He added that he will have several discussions with Bailey over the next few weeks to figure out who should replace him.
