IMPD Officer Hurt in Crash With Drunk Driver

The crash happened Wednesday morning at 10th and Tuxedo Streets.

INDIANAPOLIS  - An Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officer was injured in a crash on the city's east side Wednesday morning.

IMPD said the officer was trying to catch a speeding driver on westbound 10th Street when a second driver ran a stop sign at Tuxedo Street and crashed into the officer's patrol car. 

The officer's lights and siren were on at the time, according to IMPD.

IMPD says the officer is in good condition and was taken to the hospital to be checked out.

The driver who hit the officer had to be cut out of his vehicle. IMPD said he was awake when transported to the hospital.
