Indiana Man Accused of Offering Teen $9 Million to Kill 19-Year-Old
ANCHORAGE, Alaska -- An Indiana man and five Alaska teenagers have been indicted after prosecutors say they coordinated, carried out, and recorded the murder of 19-year-old Cynthia Hoffman.
Court documents obtained by the Anchorage Daily News say Darin Schilmiller, of New Salisbury, Ind., posed as a millionaire online and offered 18-year-old Denali Brehmer $9 million to kill Hoffman.
Prosecutors say in return, Schilmiller wanted Brehmer to send him pictures and video of the killing.
According to court documents, Brehmer recruited four of her friends to plan the attack that ended with Hoffman duct-taped, shot and dumped in a river. A funeral for Hoffman was held last week.
Schilmiller also ordered Brehmer to sexually assault two children and send him the videos, which she says she did.
Schilmiller is currently in federal custody on child pornography charges awaiting extradition to Alaska.
All six suspects were indicted Friday.
