INDOT: Repairs Needed After Semi Hits 75th Street Bridge

Police are looking for the semi that hit the underpass of the 75th Street bridge early Friday morning and drove away.

UPDATE: 9:30 A.M.

The 75th Street bridge over I-465 will need repairs after it was hit by a semi, according to Mallory Duncan from the Indiana Dept. of Transportation.

The repairs should happen within the next week or so but there will be no need to close the bridge to traffic, Duncan told WISH-TV.

Police are still looking for the driver of the semi.

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Three southbound lanes of I-465 on the city’s northeast side were closed early Friday morning, according to the Indiana State Police.

ISP said a semi hit the underpass of the 75th Street bridge while traveling south on I-465. It took out a piece of concrete from the bridge leaving debris on I-465.

Police said the driver fled the scene following the incident. A search is currently underway for the semi, which may be hauling a backhoe on a flatbed trailer.
