Indy Animal Care Services Out of Space, Offering Free Adoptions

The shelter has many cats and dogs who have been waiting for homes for more than a month--some, for more than 100 days.

INDIANAPOLIS -- Are you interested in making your house a forever home? Indianapolis Animal Care Services could use your help!

IACS said Friday that it is completely out of space and needs to find homes for many of its cats and dogs.

“This morning, we started with zero open dog kennels and cat cages,” said Katie Trennepohl, IACS Deputy Director. “The staff is doing everything they can to find space for the animals that continue to come into the shelter, but we desperately need the public’s help.”

The shelter has many "long-term" residents that have been at the shelter for more than 30 days. A few animals have been at IACS for more than 100 days, including these loveable pups:

  • Bernadette (113 days at IACS)
  • Rosie O'Donnell (110 days)
  • Rosie (109 days)
  • Bulbasaur (101)

Adoptions are currently free! IACS is open until 6 p.m. Friday and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
