Indy Man Hit By Train; Loses Both Legs

The person was hit on the train tracks near Mass Ave. and Rural Street.

INDIANAPOLIS -- A man lost both his legs Monday morning after he was struck by a train on Indianapolis' east side. 

The person was hit just after 8 a.m., on the train tracks near Mass Ave. and Rural Street. 

The train's engineer radioed dispatch after the man was hit, saying he didn't see him in time to stop. 

The victim was taken to Eskenazi Hospital. 

No further information is available.
