Inmate Dies After Attack at Pendleton Correctional Facility

Ezekial Jones was serving a 72-year sentence for murder and robbery.

PENDLETON, Ind. - A Fort Wayne man serving time at Pendleton Correctional Facility died Wednesday after being attacked by a fellow inmate.

Ezekiel Jones died at St. Vincent's Hospital in Indianapolis of a stab wound to the neck, said Warden Dushan Zatecky.

Jones was serving a 72-year sentence for murder and robbery.

His death remains under investigation. 

"The suspect in the attack and potential witnesses to the incident are being questioned by the facility’s Investigations and Intelligence staff along with investigators from the Indiana State Police,” Zatecky said in a release obtained by the Fort Wayne News-Sentinel. “The facility has been placed on lockdown status with visitation suspended until further notice."

An autopsy is scheduled at St. Vincent's.
