Jim Brainard Wins Republican Primary For Carmel Mayor
CARMEL, Ind. -- It looks like Jim Brainard will remain Mayor of Carmel.
The Republican won the primary election on Tuesday night, and unless a Democrat or Independent decides to run before the June 30 deadline, Brainard will keep his seat.
With the recent allegations and accusations against him, Brainard admits it has been tough.
"It was a nasty campaign," Brainard told 93 WIBC. "But we're going to move forward and we're going to be positive."
Although voter turnout was low for the Tuesday primaries in most places in Indiana, Carmel had a decent turnout.
"It looks like it was around 30%," Brainard said. "It'd be nice to see 100%, but I see other cities with 5 or 8 or 9%, so comparatively, we did pretty well. About what we expected."
Brainard said he has plans to continue to make Carmel "a city to compete with the best places all over the Earth" by keeping it a safe place with "low taxes" and "a wonderful place to start a business and spend your life."
