Job Training Tops Priority List As Legislature Prepares to Return to Work Wednesday
(INDIANAPOLIS) - The legislature gets to work Wednesday, and Governor Holcomb's top priority will be streamlining Indiana job training.
Holcomb's predecessor, Vice President Mike Pence, created Indiana Career Councils in different regions of the state to align job training with the jobs expected to be in demand. Holcomb wants to rewire the way those councils work to give them more control over their own funding, instead of being told what to do by the state.
Holcomb says the state will also be reviewing which training programs work best. Those findings will shape funding requests in the 2019 budget.
