Landscaper Killed in Lawnmower Accident on Indy's Southwest Side

The man was pronounced dead at the scene after the lawnmower flipped over and landed on top of him.

INDIANAPOLIS -- A man was killed Saturday afternoon after a lawnmower he was riding flipped over and landed on top of him.

The Indianapolis Metro Police Department says it happened at the 5700 block of Minden Drive, near Southport Road.

Neighbors say the landscaper was mowing a ravine in a backyard, when the lawnmower flipped and landed on top of him.

One of the neighbors, who is a nurse, said she heard another neighbor yell for help. They ran to the man, who was laying under the mower, in a creek. She said the man was burned, unconscious, and blue in the face. The nurse performed CPR before medics arrived, but they were unable to revive him.

Workers with the landscaping company, Strypes Inc., came later to get the lawnmower. The man's name has not been released.
