Lebanon Police Officer Found Dead in Home

Lebanon Police and Boone Co. Sheriff's deputies were called early Monday morning to the home of Officer Terry Nelson, Jr.

LEBANON, Ind. -- A longtime member of the Lebanon Police Department was found dead inside his home Monday morning.

Officer Terry L. Nelson, Jr., 42, was found just before 12:30 a.m. by members of the Lebanon Police Department  and Boone County Sheriff's Office.

Nelson was a lifelong resident of Lebanon and 18-year veteran of LPD.

In 2011, he was awarded the Medal of Valor by the Indiana State Fire Marshal's Office for "heroic actions" taken during a July 2011 fire at an apartment complex.

Foul play is not suspected, but Nelson's death is being investigated by the Carmel Police Department and the Boone County Coroner's Office.
