ANDERSON, Ind. — The Anderson Police Chief should be demoted for confronting state troopers who were arresting his son, says the Madison Co. Prosecutor.
Prosecutor Rodney Cummings says state police told him Chief Tony Watters got into the troopers’ personal space and put his finger in their faces while they arrested his son June 7.
Cummings told The Herald Bulletin newspaper that Watters’ behavior was “unacceptable” for a police chief.
Chief Watters says he is cooperating with ISP’s investigation into the incident.
State troopers arrested Adam Watters, an officer with the Anderson Police Department, for breaking into his girlfriend’s home and attacking her.
Adam Watters is charged with domestic battery, intimidation, official misconduct by a public servant, criminal confinement, and strangulation. He was placed on administrative leave without pay following his arrest.
