Man Arrested For Fighting Officers, Having Child In Car During Multi-County Chase
FOUNTAIN COUNTY, Ind. -- He refused to stop for police, now he's in jail for leading them on a multi-county chase in northern Indiana.
Wyatt Hunt committed a few traffic violations on eastbound I-74 in Fountain County late Saturday. Sheriff's deputies pull him over, but when he stopped two people ran from his car and then he took off as well.
Indiana State Police say the deputies were not able to pursue Hunt because of the the man and woman that ran, but they did notify troopers and sheriff's deputies in Montgomery County that he was continuing east on I-74.
Officers there were waiting for him and forced him off the interstate where he hit stop sticks on US 231 near State Road 136.
"As officers approached, Wyatt dove to the ground and resisted the officer’s verbal commands, "said ISP Sgt. Kim Riley in a press release." After Wyatt failed to comply with the officers numerous commands, a Taser was deployed and then officers were able to place him in custody."
It was after the malee that they discovered a 9-year-old child in the car. A bruised and battered Hunt was taken to the Montgomery County jail charged with resisting police and criminal recklessness.
It's not clear if police caught the other two people who ran from the initial stop.
