For the third time in as many months, a Megabus has crashed in Indiana.
Indiana State Police say the crash happened shortly before 1:00 p.m. Tuesday on the Indiana Toll Road about two miles from the Illinois border as it was heading from Indianapolis to Chicago. The driver, 63-year-old Albert Jackson of Richton Park, Illinois, failed to slow down for traffic which had stopped for an earlier fatal crash, according to State Police.
The bus collided with an SUV then hit two more vehicles, the last of which collided with another car. The driver of one of the vehicles and his wife, both in their late sixties, were taken to North Lake Hospital in Gary with non-life-threatening injuries.
None of the 80 passengers on board the Megabus were injured. The passengers were put onto another Megabus, but waited two hours before that bus continued on its way to Chicago.
Megabus is already facing two lawsuits over separate crashes on Interstate 65 in October and earlier in December.
