MUNCIE, Ind. — A man from Muncie is accused of ditching a bag of drugs in the middle of a police chase.

Muncie police say Damon Rice, 19, ignored an officer who tried to stop him for speeding early Saturday morning.

Instead of pulling over, Rice hit the gas and led police on a 70 mph chase through a southside neighborhood, reports The Muncie Star Press.

Rice was arrested after his car hit a curb outside the Earthstone Terrace housing complex.

A witness told police he saw Rice toss a “bag of drugs” out of his car near the intersection of 21st and Walnut Streets.

When officers checked out the intersection, they found a bag containing four grams of meth.

Rice faces preliminary charges of meth possession, resisting law enforcement, and reckless driving. At the time of his arrest, he already had 10 charges pending in unrelated Delaware County court cases.

Rice was being held Tuesday in the Delaware Co. Jail.
