Muncie Woman Suing ALDI For Accusing Her Of Shoplifting

After an employee asked if she was going to pay for what was in her purse, she says, she showed that nothing from the store was inside.

MUNCIE, Ind. -- A Muncie woman is suing ALDI Grocery Stores for accusing her of shoplifting in 2017.

In the lawsuit the woman says she went to the store and bought bread, cheese and potato chips. When she handed the employee her money, she says, another employee asked if she was going to pay for the items in her purse.

The woman said she emptied her purse, which had nothing from the store inside it.

When she went to another grocery store, two days later, a child pointed to her and told their mother, she was the one stealing from ALDI.

Since then the woman has had counseling, and has suffered from embarrassment, a tarnished reputation, pain and suffering and incurred medical expenses, states the lawsuit.

The Muncie Star Press says ALDI Inc. has not responded to the suit as of Friday.
