Neil Armstrong Bio Film In Theatres This Fall
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – A major motion picture is coming out this fall about one of the most famous people to graduate from Purdue University.
Ryan Gosling is playing Neil Armstrong in the upcoming film, First Man about the life of the first man to walk on the moon in July 1969.
The movie adaptation is directed by Damien Chazelle, who won an Academy Award for Best Director for the film La La Land which also starred Gosling.
The movie is based on the book, First Man: The Life of Neil A. Armstrong written by James R. Hansen and published in 2005.
After serving in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War, Armstrong graduated from Purdue in 1955 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Aeronautical Engineering.
According to a release from Universal Pictures, the movie depicts “the riveting story of NASA’s mission to land a man on the moon, focusing on Neil Armstrong and the years 1961-1969. A visceral, first-person account, the movie will explore the sacrifices and the cost—on Armstrong and on the nation—of one of the most dangerous missions in history.”
The film is set to be released in theatres Oct. 12, 2018.
