NFD Teams Up with Shepherd's Center for a New Program for Senior Citzens

A free service to help make senior's homes safer

NOBLESVILLE, Ind.-- The Noblesville Fire Department has teamed up with Shepherd's Center of Hamilton County for a new service to help senior citizens. The Noblesville Senior Outreach Program will provide in-home services that seniors may need help with.

The free of charge service will be customizable to each person. Safety inspections, replacing smoke detectors, and installing exterior key lock boxes are just some services provided by the NFD. If the fire department can't help, the Shepherd's Center will step in to assist.

Fire Chief Greg Wyant told Hamilton County's Times, “Statistically, roughly 10% of our call volume comes from slips, trips, and falls. Of those falls, approximately 75% are from residents 55 and older. NFD began developing this program several months ago and I am proud that it is now finalized and being officially launched. It will allow us to help the seniors in our community remain independent by proactively identifying and fixing issues in their homes or referring them to SCHC.”

You can schedule an in-home visit by calling  317-776-6336 or emailing nfdscheduling@noblesville.in.us.
