Nine Teenagers Arrested During Riot at Juvenile Facility
INDIANAPOLIS -- A riot at a juvenile psychiatric treatment and addiction facility on the east side of Indianapolis caused significant damage to the building and injuries to the staff.
Eleven Indianapolis police officers were called to the scene at 1404 S. State Avenue just before 11 pm. That's the address to the Resource Treatment Center juvenile psychiatric facility, as well as Options Transitional Living, which provides sober housing for homeless or at-risk youth.
More than $50,000 in damage was done to the facility and four staff members were assaulted. None of their injuries were serious.
9 teenagers were taken into custody on charges of vandalism, rioting, battery, and disorderly conduct. They ranged in age from 13-17.
