STATEWIDE–Warm weather is here now, but get ready for rain and lower temperatures.

The National Weather Service in Indianapolis says highs will either be in the upper 50s or lower 60s through the weekend, but things start to change beginning Saturday night.

“We’re expecting chances for rain to start during the afternoon on Saturday with most of the rain to start falling Saturday night and into Sunday,” says Andrew White, NWS meteorologist.

White says by the time Monday arrives, high temperatures will only get into the high 30s and low 40s thanks to a cold front that will move through.

“There could be a little bit of snow mixing in as the system exits going into Monday morning, but it’s a little too early to point out any details at this point,” White says.

When the temperature swings drastically, White says the roads often pay the price.

“Whenever we get those big swings, it’s not good for the roads. The swing from warm to cold seems to start those problems with the potholes that we seem to see every winter,” White says.

It’s hard to tell when snow will return to Indiana, but White urges you to stay vigilant and always check the forecast.
