One Person Killed, Another Critically Injured in Shooting
INDIANAPOLIS-One man was killed and a woman was critically injured in a shooting Tuesday night at a home on Indy's southeast side.
Police say it happened around 9:30 in the 3500 block of East Morris Street, which is near the intersection of Prospect Street and S. Sherman Drive.
"One of them was declared deceased on the scene. The other was transported to Eskenazi Hospital in critical, but stable condition," said IMPD Captain Robert Trout.
They have arrested one suspect, but they are still trying to figure out what led to the shooting.
"There was a description provided and one of our officers saw the suspect matching that description just a flew blocks from the scene. They were able to stop and detain him. At this point, we feel fairly confident that he is the person that we were looking for and that there is no other threat," Trout said.
There were children in the home at the time of the shooting, but none of them were hurt. The children are now with their grandmother.
Both the man who was killed and the injured woman are in their 20s.
They are still looking for the gun that was used during the shooting.
