Peyton Manning Selling Ownership Stake In Papa John's

The move comes after Papa John's and the NFL mutually parted ways from a sponsorship deal

DENVER -- Peyton Manning is distancing himself from Papa John's.

The former Indianapolis Colts quarterback has sold his ownership stake in 31 Papa John's locations in Denver, Colorado. He's also letting go his stake in the company as a whole.

The move comes after Papa John's and the NFL mutually parted ways from a sponsorship deal in the wake of CEO John Schnatter's statement blaming low pizza sales on NFL players kneeling during the national anthem.

Schnatter is from Jeffersonville, Indiana.

Last week, Pizza Hut announced it would be the new pizza sponsor of the NFL.
