Police Chase Through Johnson, Marion Counties Ends With Crash

Johnson Co. Sheriff Doug Cox says deputies caught up with the man on the interstate and a chase ensued.

JOHNSON COUNTY, Ind. -- A police chase through Johnson and Marion Counties Tuesday morning ended with downed telephone poles and a car crashing into a tree.

Johnson Co. Sheriff Doug Cox said in a release Tuesday morning that the incident began when someone on Main Street in Greenwood called in a suspicious man on their property.

The man got into his car and onto the interstate, where sheriff's deputies caught up with him and a chase ensued.

Police say the man turned north on Arlington Avenue and flashed a gun.

His car then left the road, hit several telephone poles and crashed into a tree.

The driver was taken to Eskenazi Health with injuries that Sheriff Doug Cox said could be "life-threatening".

The name of the driver has not been released.
