Police: Man Used Sword to Try and Rob Man on Scooter in Evansville

Ryan Hensley, 38, was convicted on multiple charges.

EVANSVILLE, Ind.--A sword-wielding robber is going to prison in Evansville.  

Yesterday, Ryan Hensley, 38, was convicted of threatening a man with a sword in order to take his scooter.  

Prosecutors say Hensley did that last September in broad daylight in Evansville. 

After failing to rob the man on the scooter, investigators say Hensley took off on his bike and police found him in a nearby house. 

Hensley was convicted on the following felony charges:  

  • Attempted armed robbery
  • Attempted theft
  • Criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon
  • Intimidation with a deadly weapon

Hensley will be sentenced May 20th.
