Scammer Posing as Indiana Governor Cons Tennessee Woman

The scammer told her he was Indiana Governor "Thomas E. Will" and that she just won a $50,000 jackpot.

SURGOINSVILLE, Tenn. — A Hawkins, Tennessee woman is out nearly $200 after being scammed by someone pretending to be the Governor of Indiana.

The Times-News in Kingsport, Tennessee says a person claiming to be Indiana Governor "Thomas E. Will" messaged the woman on Facebook and said she won $50,000.

To claim her prize, she had to transfer $500 via Walmart to a man named "Rogerio Campos" in Fort Wayne.

After Walmart refused the transfer, "Governor Will" convinced her to send him $160 in iTunes gift cards using Facebook messenger.

By the time the woman realized it was a scam, it was too late. The money was gone, and so was her pride.
