Six Students Hurt in Elkhart Co. Bus Crash

Police say the bus was t-boned on its way to Beardsley Elementary School.

ELKHART, Ind. -- Several elementary school students from Elkhart were hurt Wednesday morning when their school bus was hit by an SUV.

ABC 57 in South Bend says "Beardsley Elementary School Bus 74" was t-boned by a Nissan Pathfinder at the intersection of 2nd Street and Jackson Boulevard around 8:15 a.m. 

Six of the 23 students on the bus were taken to a hospital with minor injuries, which police described as "mainly bumps and bruises". 

The remaining students were taken to Beardsley to be examined by the school nurse, according to a post on the Elkhart Community Schools Facebook page.

The driver of the bus and the driver of the Pathfinder were not hurt.
