State Rep. Forestal Suspended From Firefighter Job

The Lawmaker who represents parts of Indy will be in court Aug. 27.

INDIANAPOLIS—State Rep. Dan Forestal (D-Indianapolis) has been suspended from his job as an Indianapolis firefighter, and the department is following his case to decide what discipline he might face.

In a statement released Friday, IFD spokesperson Rita Reith, said Forestal will serve 240 hours of suspension without pay, then will be allowed to return to work, but would not be able to go out on any calls.

Forestal is accused of using his fire department badge to impersonate a police officer last weekend in several incidents, which led to a felony charge. Court documents also say he was driving drunk and resisted police when they tried to arrest him.

Forestal has been with the fire department since 2007. He lists his rank on social media as Lieutenant, but the fire department says he is actually a private.
