Subway Employee Shot, Killed In Robbery On Northeast Side
UPDATE: The victim has been identified as 35-year-old Ashok Kaumar.
INDIANAPOLIS -- A Subway employee shot and killed after a fight inside the restaurant on the city's northeast side Monday night.
Police were called shortly after 7:45 in the evening about a robbery at the Subway off Shadeland Ave. in the Shadeland Station Shopping Center south of 75th Street.
"This is an outrageous act of violence in our city," said IMPD Sgt. Grace Sibley. "We will be using all our resources to find the people who perpetrated this crime."
Sibley said three people went into the Subway to try and rob it. All three were dressed in black and carried black backpacks. Two of them wore black masks and the other wore a mask with a leopard print. At least one of the three was armed.
Soon after a fight started. Who it was between is not clear to investigators as they will not say if anyone else other than the robbers and workers were inside at the time.
All three ran off after shots were fired hitting and killing a worker.
